Hey hey hey, take a look at what Google just rolled out. Google Docs unveiled a new feature that would probably be to the delight of everyone who uses it - templates. If you’re the type of person who would want to start typing on an already-laid-out page, then you might want to thank the Google gods for this one.

Simply clicking New -> from Template gives you access to hundreds of free templates whether you’re going to create a document, a spreadsheet, or a presentation. And they’re not only design templates, the selection includes calculators, resumes, business plans, etc… And the designs aren’t necessarily all-Google as some design houses also lent some of their free templates into the mix.

Surely, this would put a potato up Microsoft Word’s tailpipe. To get to most of the templates for Word, you have to download them online. For Office 2007, even, they made templates web-based to make sure only those with licensed copies get to download templates. Go Google!

If you had to answer, I’m sure you’ll consider the hospital as one of the scariest places you can think of. The fear of hospitals has nothing to do with the supernatural, of ghosts that may lurk in the ancient halls, but it’s the fear of facing one’s sickness and health problems.

Motherhood is a very rewarding stage. You can’t wait for the ninth month for when your baby comes out to the world. Some of my friends are so intent on having one but vanity sometimes do factor in. But one thing that’s not pretty during motherhood are the stretch marks. Can’t one just enjoy motherhood without getting these ugly marks?

Enjoy a Lake Vacation

If you want to enjoy the waters but you’re tired of the beach, why not go to a lake instead and enjoy a different adventure. Beaches can be overrated these days (especially since it’s summer). A nice log cabin (or a tent) by the lake might just be more of your thing.

Web Raid: Find Out What Acronyms Mean

Oh my, it’s been a while since we did feature a web raid here. Probably it’s because good web services and web-based are hard to come by nowadays. Many are just clones of some other tool. But some do still deserve a bit of attention. And some, that have been around for quite some time, deserve a bit of recognition. Being up for quite some time in today’s flash-in-the-pan Web does mean something.

CyberNet News just did a feature on Acronym Finder - a site that, well, based on its name, does the obvious - finds acronym meanings for you. It’s quite a straightforward search engine that would return a whole lot of results but you have to hand it to them what they’ve done for being around for 11 years now. And you can tell, it’s a grand daddy of a site with its minimalistic, old school layout.

This site is all about acronyms, just enter any acronym and it will find results for you, which you can sort by alphabetical order, or by rank. You can even sort it out by categories to give you a tighter pool especially if you know in which context like if SNAFU is some organization’s name (and it is “Southern Nevada Ale Fermenters Union”).

It has a database of 4.2 million acronyms and it’s got some Web 2.0 bells and whistles such as additions to Google Toolbar, Google Homepage, or Mozilla and IE search.

My friendly neighborhood Vista Update Manager has prompted me again to update my system. But one thing caught my eye - What was that 56 MB update that is considered important? Better be good.

Microsoft, apparently, has language issues and if you’re one who is pissed off that “Obama” isn’t recognized by Vista’s dictionary then you better apply the KB955020 update fast! Aside from pleasing Mr. Barack and the whole Democratic party, the update would also stop the Vista from discriminating against four other words, namely “Friendster,” “Klum,” “Nazr,” and “Racicot.”

Sure, that’s quite fine. But check out the size of that damn thing. Theoretically, you’re just embedding a few characters into the dictionary. Should be just a few bytes, right? But no, the update is a whopping 56.4 MB! Makes you wonder how efficient that patch is. Reading the knowledge base leads you to the explanation - it replaces your whole dictionary with update ones. So you’re basically downloading the dictionary - again!

There should be a reason why it should considered an update that should be delivered in patches. You don’t mend a tear by replacing the whole thing.

All relationships have conflicts. And one such conflicted relationship is that of a supplier and a client. Unlike personal relationships, business relationships tend to be more stressful.
