“Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together”
Thomas Dekker (1572 – 1632)
A good sleep helps you get a healthy fresh start the next day, so getting a good nights rest is very important. If you’re having trouble getting shuteye, here are a few tips you can try:
Make Sleep Part Of Your Priorities
While most of us realize sleep is essential, many of us treat it like a second rate activity to be done when everything else is complete. Make time for sleep, and organize your schedule to give priority to sleep so you know for sure you get enough hours in bed.
Watch Your Diet
Understand how your body reacts to food intake such as caffeine, and make sure you don’t consume them too close to your bedtime. Everyone reacts differently, some people can’t sleep if they drink a cup of tea hours before.
Get into a Routine
Get into a habit of sleeping and waking at the same time. Try to do this even if you’re on holidays. Your body will adapt to the cycle and will help your body relax when you need to sleep.
Exercise
Regular exercise, not close to the bedtime, improves your chances of a good sleep. Stay away from cigarettes, which act as a stimuli and may keep you awake if used too close to sleeping times.
Try To Get Problems Out of the Way
Learn to put aside your problems for the day. Stressful situations often make for sleepless nights. Meditation, exercise, and just general a positive attitude will go a long way in making sure you get a good rest.

1A mental trick to try is to imagine your hands (and feet, if you can) getting warm. Warm hands and feet help you fall asleep – plus, if you’re concentrating on this exercise, you aren’t worrying about today or tomorrow.
