Ergonomic Keyboard

Repetitive stress injuries (RSI) plague our workplaces. Risks of getting RSI can be from poor office ergonomics or just plain poor work habits. While we can’t always demand for ergonomic office furniture, we can adjust our work habits to gear towards RSI prevention. Here are 5 quick reminders for you to avoid getting repetitive stress injuries.

  1. Never allow yourself to slouch. Bad posture can be corrected by being conscious of how you position yourself. You can buy cheap lumbar pillows to help support your lower back.
  2. Apply correct lighting to cut down on monitor glare. Poor lighting conditions can give you eye strain.
  3. Take breaks every fifty minutes. Walk around and allow your eyes to focus on other things around you.
  4. It’s easier to type with trimmed nails. Long nails can force your hands to “strike” the keys instead of pressing down on them.
  5. Use a headset instead of cradling the phone between your head and neck.
