Cobweb

I was about to use “How to Clean Cobwebs” as a title but I think that would solicit “duh”-comments from a lot of people. In any case, this post is on a few tips and tricks on how to get those cobwebs and dust fuzz that you may get in hard to reach places like corners of ceilings. These spots are probably the first thing you should get rid off when doing cleaning. Going from top to bottom will limit the direction of where dust will go. Starting from ceilings ensure that they only go down.

In any case, here are some to get rid of them.

Vacuum. The best way to deal with these “decorations” is with a vacuum. Its suction would help in eliminating dust from those hard to reach nooks and crannies like airconditioning vents, air ducts, and corners. This is going to be easy if you have a telescoping vacuum attachment made specially for such tasks or if your ceilings are low enough for you to reach.

Long-handled brooms. If you have a very high ceiling then you might need to have other implements to help you clean. A lot of modern dusters come with telescoping handles that may allow you to reach those high places. You can also create a makeshift ceiling cleaner with a stick with an old nylon stocking (or an old cotton shirt) wrapped around one end. You’d be amazed at how this can clean those cobwebs and dust fuzz efficiently.

Tennis ball. Here’s a nifty trick especially if you don’t have a long stick or a duster with a telescoping handle. Wrap a tennis ball with an old nylon stocking. Toss this to the corners where the cobwebs and dust fuzz accumulate and watch how the dust fuzz sticks to the ball. Just be careful how and where you throw the ball. It might bounce and ricochet somewhere else and do more damage than good.
