I have to admit that with all the hype on web standards, usability and accessibility that I’ve practically scrapped WYSIWYG editors in favor of text editors (PSPad’s my choice tool). At least I have full control over the code. However, I also have to consider that coding is one tough cookie to crack, especially with styling and layout done in CSS and structure done in xHTML. For beginners, it’s practically coding hell.
However, that shouldn’t stop aspiring web designers to give up on everything. WYSIWYG editors do help when you’re starting since they guide you on how to create codes all in the context of the result. One tricky area in CSS – navigation buttons. CSS-BuMa’s can help you with that. It has a WYSIWYG interface for you to customize the appearance of buttons including the font, size, color, background images even design them from scratch.
CSS-BuMa can also help you create navigations for both horizontal and vertical designs. It has an internal preview option. Your final product can be exported in both CSS and HTML codes ready to be cut and paste on your web page’s code.
Hardcore designers will definitely swear against this, but it’s a great tool to help out those starting out with web design. Works in Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP.
