Remove Empty DirectoriesIf you’ve neglected cleaning and organizing your files for some time, you may be in for one tough job. Ever wondered where all of those bytes went? While most of the “lost bytes” in Windows are due to the shadow files and restore points, some of the overlooked ones are due to empty directories. So here’s a download to help you reclaim space and reorganize your directories by removing those empty ones.

RED (short for Remove Empty Directories) is a handy tool that you can use to batch delete folders. It recursively searches and deletes empty directories. You can assign a start folder or even set custom rules to give you more control over the searches and deletion. If you’re concerned about the safety of this thing, it claims not to delete registry keys or system files.

It requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to run and is available for Windows.
