Yesterday, I featured this nifty tweak that makes Firefox select only the word when you double-click on it. By default, Firefox includes that little space after it.

In any case, you’ll also probably notice that the double-click selection also wouldn’t include punctuation marks. Say if you’re working with tags, double clicking [strong] would select strong and wouldn’t include the brackets. So today, here’s another tweak that makes you do otherwise.

  • Access the about:config page.
  • Find the layout.word_select.stop_at_punctuation preference name
  • Double-click on it to change the string value to false
  • Close the about:config page/tab
  • The changes take effect instantly

However, this also means that it’ll begin to select words with commas, periods, and question marks at the end of them. Your choice.
