Torrents are probably the most functional way to download and share large files. Okay, okay, so it’s mostly a way for pirates to leak copyrighted material. Heck, using it properly is user responsibility. If you’re a torrent freak and wondering why wouldn’t Firefox have an add-on for that well here’s FoxTorrent.
While as to my opinion it won’t replace your favored torrent clients like Azureus or uTorrent, it is a better alternative to the crude BitTorrent client. It’s got oodles of features:
- Streaming Fast Delivery - Watch video and listen to audio as it downloads.
- Background Downloading - Continues to work even after your browser window has been closed.
- Complete Firefox Integration - Manage your torrent downloads from your browser window.
- Low Resource Footprint - Foxtorrent uses less than 8 MB of RAM, and doesn’t hog bandwidth.
- Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu Linux - Consistent downloading experience across all three platforms.
- Configuration-Free - Automatic support for NATs, uPNP, and firewalls, with no tinkering necessary.
I haven’t really tried downloading video and audio since most of these files are copyrighted (ethics :D) to test out streaming content. Still as an add-on, it just makes Firefox your all-around weapon of choice.
