This just yet end all my about:config tips and tweaks but what a nice way to end it (unless Firefox 3 comes out and we’ve got another set of configuration settings to tinker with). What’s tricky with the about:config tweaks is that you have to strain your eyes for the preference names and manually change the settings be they boolean, string, or integer values.
Configuration Mania will definitely change the way we approach the about:config settings in Firefox. For one, it gives you a GUI and classifies the different configuration settings into sections from the browser, to security and network, the UI and debugging. That rids the guesswork on preference names and what they do. Plus, each feature has some explanation to the customizable values.
Installing the add-on will put a Configuration Mania item in your Tools menu allowing you to access all the goodies inside this add-on.
