Okay, I’ve got to admit, I do have a Twitter but I seldom find time to post stuff since I always seem to forget to have it open. Yes, that means dedicating a tab for that. And I’ve got just too many tabs open. And since I don’t like my mobile phone buzzing me with an SMS every time a Twitter-fiend friend posts an update. So why not have it as an accessible add-on in Firefox, in the sidebar, perhaps.
So here are two add-ons just for that purpose.
TwitBin
Here’s TwitBin, a Firefox extension that places Twitter in your Firefox sidebar. It features a pretty interface that lets you send and receive messages from your Twitter account. One thing I don’t like though is that it places an “ad” at the bottom. Not actually distracting but it does make TwitBin look like adware.
Tweetbar
There’s also tweetbar, a similar application that also places Twitter in your sidebar. Over the two, this one’s a more straightforward approach to Twitter as it features the familiar Twitter interface only it fits your sidebar.

1Thanks for posting about us. We are glad users are liking our application. We have had mixed reviews about the ads. We figured they were fairly unobtrusive though. We will not be placing Flash ads, and we are extremely selective about what ads will be displayed. Right now we’ve given away the ad space to friends of ours, so we haven’t made any money off of it. This will eventually start costing us money to run the service. Thanks for talking about our application and let us know if you have any ideas or comments as we are constantly developing for the next version.
Note: You call Mike Demer’s application “Twitbar” in the post, it should be “Tweetbar”.
Thanks,
Xavier

2Apart from the ads, I find it great. I love the tidy and classy UI. Duly noted on the typo. Thanks for dropping by.
