Let’s all thank Avenue Q for re-emphasizing that the Internet is for porn. What can we do? Sex sells. However, porn is just so easy to access over the Net that it really poses a grave threat to our kids. While there are a lot of parental control software out there, not one has been really targeted to service our (my) favorite browser, Firefox.
That’s until Glubble came along. Here’s what Glubble is according to their site to save us:
Glubble is a free tool for the Mozilla Firefox Internet browser. It permits each member of the family to have their own custom environment, so that when kids use it they only see the very best parts of the Internet based on selections made by their parents or supplied by trusted family brands.
Glubble gives you the peace of mind to know your child can only see web sites that you trust for them. Think of Glubble as being better than sitting next to your child all the time because the software lets your loved ones see what you already approve and blocks everything else, even on search engine results from Google or Yahoo!
So yes, while it is basically a parental control application, it also packs just a few more features that parents would surely love. It basically creates a “Glubble World” for you where you can set which sites your kids will be able to browse and surf. It even enhances your Firefox’s theme and appearance by making it child-friendly. It also packs these features which include:
In any case, while this is a great Firefox add-on, kids are getting smart these days. And setting up a home proxy can turn an regular non-geek parent’s brain into mush. In any case, if you’re a Firefox kind of family, I still think Glubble is worth giving a shot.
