A blu ray disc

Sony does it again in 2007. Sony has constantly made history by releasing their own storage technologies that never became industry leaders. Let’s make a rundown. Betamax? Check! MD? Check! What next? Blu-ray?

In today’s world of HD (high definition) video, you’ve got to have something for the adult movie industry. Sony isn’t making it happen for blu-ray the same way they banned production of porn in Beta, which apparently, was a (if not “the”) cause of it’s demise in the Beta vs. VHS. Never mind Beta’s supposed superior technology.

And look at how vague Sony hands out the policy:

Sony Corp. said it will not work with the adult film industry to help put their movies on its Blu-ray Disc format, although it will not try to stop them completely.

The company will not allow its disc replicating subsidiary, Sony DADC, to handle adult film titles, it said this week.

So what does this tell us? Bootleg Blu-ray porn?

It seems that with this move, Sony will again be doing the same thing they did with Beta. The adult movie industry is a leading player in the video market. Sony just took away their potential revenue with its decision and gave HD DVD the upper hand in the high definition storage slugfest.

Since Sony banned replicating porn in blu-ray, this leaves no other alternative for adult movie industry but to go with HD-DVD.
