Lima Blood Sugar Analyzer

I come from a family with a history of diabetes. It’s been tough for diabetics to deal with blood letting daily, even if it’s just a drop from a tiny prick. While technology has offered almost painless technologies, many commercially available blood sugar analyzers still need a drop of blood to function. This can already be a daunting task to do everyday for diabetics, what more for diabetics with concerns such as hemophobia.

An industrial design student from University of Applied Science in Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany, brings another gleam of hope for diabetics with Lima. Damien Mackiewicz designed this NERF-football-like device that utilizes IR technology to detect blood sugar levels. Bloodless and painless and practical. Just the type of device diabetics would surely love.

Let’s just hope this becomes commercially viable and available in the near future.
