If you’re a PB&J fan or simply a peanut butter fan, then you might want to pay attention to this news. CNN reports that there are now 628 cases of salmonella illness reported in 47 states all related to bad peanut butter.
The outbreak that started back in February has now risen to 628, a rise of 200 from March. This, however, has been a significant drop ever since ConAgra Foods Inc. started the recall of tainted peanut butter. The ConAgra plant has since been undergoing renovation and the Peter Pan brand is still to return from stores.
Those who have bought jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter with a product code on the lid beginning with “2111″ were told to discard the lot. Refunds can be had by presenting the jars or their lids to the store. So the next time you buy or open a jar of peanut butter, make sure you check the brand and lids. Better be safe than sorry.
