Toilet Paper

Ever experienced the rotten feeling of not being able to purge your bowels? I’ve experienced it once or twice and it’s not really a good thing to go through. So here are some tips to help prevent constipation.

  • Chew your food thoroughly.

Chewing not only helps break down food particles down to a pulp. Chemicals in your saliva helps break down starch too and convert it to sugar. The less stuff that’s wasted, the you need to poop.

  • Drink up.

One possible cause of constipation is dehydration. This means that your poop is kind of dry. Dry poop is hard poop. So better drink lots of water.

  • Get more fiber.

Fiber is nature’s plumber’s snake and is found in leafy vegetables, fruits, whole-wheat and cereals. Oatmeal is a great fiber source. Cleaning your digestive track also prevents risks like colon cancer. Here’s a list of natural sources of fiber.

  • Nature’s laxatives

You might want to try to take in scraped carrots, peanuts or popcorn before you go to sleep. Raisins and prunes are also great laxatives.

  • If all else fails, consult your doctor for a good laxative.
