Unfortunately for us honest people, the world isn’t built as safe as we want it. Even in what we can think of as the safest places crooks can lurk about. Crowds and public places. Probably one of the worst things one can feel is the feeling of realizing you just got your pocket picked. Nasty. So what honest folk can do is just take a few more precautions.
Here are some tips on how to avoid getting your pocket picked.
- Don’t flash your valuables (cash, wallets, cellular phones, jewelry) in public places.
- Carry them inside your coat pockets or someplace more secure. You’d be amazed but even buttoned up pockets can be popped open.
- Be suspicious if anyone bumps into you unnecessarily.
- Always be alert. Keep your eyes peeled especially in public places and crowds.
- Don’t carry all of your credit cards with you or large amounts of cash.
- Take note of what you have inside your wallet. If it’s possible, keep identification and personal items, in another wallet. You just don’t know what these people can do with your IDs.
- Just in case your wallet gets stolen, call in all your ATM and credit cards to your bank and notify them stolen.
