A short time ago I posted about how you Boot from a CD in Windows. When I was looking it up, I found it to be a surprisingly complicated task.
Here’s how you Boot from a CD on a Mac.
Restart the Computer.
Hold down the “c” key when the computer boots up.
That’s it. It’s a heck of a lot simpler than how you do it in Windows…and this is exactly why I’m a Mac User.

1First of all, that statement makes no sense. You are booting from a cd Before the operating system loads. Second, booting from a cd in “windows” doesn’t even require a key press, most machines automatically detect if there is a cd in and will ask if you want to boot from it…don’t say stuff that doesn’t make sense.
Fact: 90% of mac users know nothing about computers.

2Sure sounds easy enough. Too bad it doesn’t work on the G5 I recently inherited. I’ve tried pressing the c key, I’ve tried pressing the Option key, and I’ve tried Cmd-Option-Shift-Delete — these are the three methods I’ve found, and not one of them works. Is there some magic time during bootup at which I am supposed to push these buttons? At least my PC tells me what button to push and when to push it right there on the boot screen.

3BRAVO jake! Thank you! Nothing bugs me more that the constant, self righteous, bull crap that comes from mac users. Why must they always mention windows whenever they talk about their mac. Most of their statement are just plain wrong, like the one in this article. I agree with your 90% statement.
For the record, I use both Mac and Windows (mac desktops and Xserv at work, windows servers at work, windows desktops at home), and would consider myself a power-user, and if I ever want to get anything actually accomplished at work, and not have to jump through a ton of hoops to do it, I turn to my windows server. We have a quote here at work, which are mostly mac users….
Love macs, hate mac users.
Another good one….
Steve, save me from your followers.

4Actually, you all suck.
Windows and Mac who cares? In order to actually use a computer… and yes i mean other then just check your email, listen to a song, and watch a movie… you have to have something that works. Neither work – at all. Both – will always suck. Free Your Computer – use Linux.

5Actually, as both a PC user and a Mac user, I think it’s “what you are used to using.” However an insecure person tends to boast or justify his viewpoint. I wonder how many psychiatrist’s couches are occupied by insecure Mac users? Both PCs and Macs are great when they work. They both crash and burn. That’s why nobody has the “Beam me up, Scottie” thing going yet…right in the middle of a beam-up… REBOOT!!! (Gotta hate that!)

6So what is the answer here. I tried to hold down “c” on my g5 and had no luck. Windows sucks (inherently insecure) but damnit Windows just works, Mac users are gay (not that there is anything wrong with that) I choose Linux – free, more secure, a lot more of a pain in the butt (one must actually interact with a command line to get things done Ubuntu users don’t count).

7I love Linux too. I’m here because I just got a Macbook and couldn’t figure out how to boot the Linux CD.

9You guys are silly, way more mac users know how to use their computers than windows users, I would say that more linux users know how to use their computers than Mac users do. If you even knew half of what you should know about computers you would know that Mac does’nt technically even use a BIOS, windows does and you have to configure it to boot up, not difficult by any means but not as easy as hitting “C” on startup….Doofs… (I am defending that Mac user)

10you use a mac cuz of teh c key boot feature? thats a pretty lame reason cuz i can think of 1000000 more reason to use it over windows

12I’ve used both Mac & PC, & I’ve fooled around with Linux.
And my opinion is that all three operating systems suck. I think Macs are functionally better then PC’s, but Macs still have many problems. Linux just looks like a pig – but I guess having an ugly UI may be the tradeoff for stability.
We have Apple, and we have Microsoft. Linux shows us that other operating systems are possible, but hampered by consumer-based computing.

13you say about how bad all the OS’s are if you think your so great why don’t you get your lazy a$$ of the couch and make one .
Sent from a mac. which works best if you have the IQ to use it!

14@dk;jw’sdkljfefq : you need an IQ to use one? Macs are the “do it for you” computers, as in they do what you don’t want them to do on your behalf (freeze for no apparent reason, anyone?) and yet they DON’T do what you DO want them to do, or they hide anything that might be “too complicated” for the user to have the appearance that they are user friendly, but in essence they are simply stupid person friendly.
Sent from a Mac (not mine, of course.. I hate using this thing)

15“It’s a heck of a lot simpler than how you do it in Windows”
That is a seriously ridiculous statement. Clearly this particular one is much easier on a normal pc (it has nothing to do with windows btw), where you usually get prompted to push space if you want to boot from the CD. On the mac I actually had to search the web just to figure out how to boot from a CD on my macbook.

16Q: If Mac’s are so resistant to problems, why is it you need to boot to a CD?
A:Because you just found out that it’s just another piece of hardware running just another piece of software.

176 of one, half a dozen of the other.
Mac- hardware and software have to be designed for the Mac,
PC- Os designed to work with as much hardware and software as possible
Mac- proprietary, expensive, and pretty much runs on auto pilot.
PC- less expensive, designed to work with everything, but is more susceptible to compatibility issues.
Mac users have very limited options to “fix” problems when they arise, but they don’t arise as often as Windows. Windows has more options, but generally has more problems. Since Windows is more compatible, you DO have to have a broader scope of knowledge to fix issues.
Linux is almost bulletproof, but you really have to know your stuff if you’re going to use it. Not to mention there are hundreds of flavors of Linux because it’s open-source.
as a general rule, Windows users suck at using Mac, and Mac users suck at using Windows. It’s all dependent on which OS you’re used to.
That being said, if you want to have maximum options without having to find workarounds, Windows is the way to go…
Windows by itself is the least secure because 80% of people use Windows, while Mac users account for about 14% and Linux hovering somewhere around 6%
If I were to write spyware, viruses, or whatever, I’d write it for Windows since that will affect the most people.
The more popular the OS, the less secure it will become.

19But Mac users have bootcamp therefore we can run everything windows can. I love them both, i actually love all three of them. So I have all 3 of them on my Mac Mini…..So what? Mac is Mac…..You have to admit there is less crashes and the speed–>RAM ratio is crazy better.
Dont call me foolish and a mac fanboy..I switched a week ago..

20Excellent answer ’sigh’. I’d also agree with Macfanboi that Mac is most definitely ‘Stupid User’ friendly and just hides all the complicated configuration from it’s users. To the linux users I would have to say…DOS is pretty stable too, but I got sick of writing scripts and having to enter commands at a prompt. Linux is just a power user version of Mac (both are children of UNIX for those who don’t know).
The Linux and Mac are more secure than Windows argument is such a dead horse…I wish people would quit flogging it. Mac and Linux are both susceptible to viruses, spyware, and malware; if you don’t want to believe that, then your just plain dumb and should stay off the internet and buy a typewriter.
The fact that Windows is the target of 80% of internet attacks actually makes it a more secure operating system in the sense that 100% of the security software market focuses on devising protection for PC users. 1000 times as many genius developers around the world are at this moment writing software for windows and developing ways to make it a more secure and more stable operating system, compared to those few bored teenage programmers out there wasting their talent away trying to take Windows down. In fact, you could argue that everytime some anti-Windows junkie writes a virus for Windows, the end result is that he/she just ends up making Windows better and more secure.
Oh…and yes I agree with many of the previous posts…this blogger makes no sense. Search somewhere else for your answers.

21Who actually cares about all this unadulterated crap, all I want to find out is some information and I personally don’t give a rip what people think of computer makes and models, why don’t you all try to build a bridge and get over your pathetic-ness
