		<description>It is true that salt will lower the freezing temperature of water, however, it does not actually lower the temperature of the water and ice mixture.  Sorry to say it, but this will not cool a beer any faster than ice water without salt. There is good news to be had, however.  The lower freezing point of the water will slow the melting process of the ice.  How is this usefull? Well, on a hot day in the park with an ice chest full of beer, it doesn&#039;t take long for the ice to melt into a slushy mix. Adding salt to the ice will keep the ice from melting longer than without and you can enjoy a frosty cold beer from a chest of unmelted, still cold ice even at the end of the day.
