While many would think that a getaway for a second honeymoon can be refreshing for a couple, there are times when this can actually lead to marital stress. If the routine of normal life allowed you time away from each other doing things on your own, vacationing doesn’t really allow you to do just that. Same hotel rooms. Same cruise ship cabins. Constantly changing environments. There’s a reason why cabin fever is just a scary thought. Those can stress you out.
Dealing with such stress is doable. Here are some tips to make vacationing be less stressful to your happy union.
Plan shorter trips. It’s quite logical that if being confined to each other for too long will lead to stress then limit the duration. Limit your vacation to just a week or even a few days. It’s enough to give you a break but prevents you from seeing “too much” of each other. Oh yes, and you get to save some money too.
Group vacation. If you don’t want to get sick and tired seeing each other’s face day by day, why not make it a vacation with friends. At least, you get a semblance of a social life while getting in some quality hours on your own from time to time.
Seek open spaces. Don’t confine your time cooped up in enclosures like cabins, hotel rooms and even airplane seats. If in cruise ships, go to the deck. Explore the scenery.
