If you’re into gymnastics or breakdancing or just plain bored, you might want to learn doing a backflip. Just for the heck of it. Besides, it looks cool. Hehe.

Experts say that the most difficult thing about the backflip is overcoming the fear of doing it. If you’re hesitant to do it. Try getting a spotter who’d help you do some assisted flips first. It wouldn’t hurt if you get an expert (a trained gymnast would be really great) to help you out.

Here’s how:

  • If your vertical leap isn’t that good, you might want to practice on a trampoline first.
  • Jump as high as you can vertically, pushing off through your toes. Put your whole body (including your arms) into it.
  • Just as you reach the peak of your jump, tuck your arms either behind or in front of your knees.
  • Pull your body through.
  • Spot your landing and try to land properly.
  • Bend your knees to reduce landing shock.

Note: Before you engage in any physical activity, it’s best to get stretched and warmed up to prevent any injury. Try this at your own risk.

Here’s a good video on YouTube showing you how.
