The look of your blog is very, very important. In fact, it’s one of the most important aspects of your blog. If readers don’t like the look of, or can’t navigate your blog, then there is absolutely no chance that they’ll be sticking around. If you’re just getting started, then there are several free resources for you to get great WordPress themes. If you want to spend some money there are several professional designers and pay template sites as well.
Here are a few links to send you in the right direction.
Theme viewer – the first, and best, place to find free wordpress themes. There are new themes added her almost daily and they are beautiful. The only problem with them is that everyone else has free access to them too…so someone else can be running round with your theme design, unless you can modify it significantly.
Theme Generator – you can also check out the WordPress Theme Generator, which will help you in customizing a design for your site for free.
Template Monster – If you want to move to the next level of templates, you can find some great stuff at Template Monster. You can even purchase the designs so that the rights only belong to you if you’re willing to fork over the cash. If this still isn’t enough, it’s time to find a custom designer.
Design Disease is who does all of the Bloggy Network site templates, and the work she does is absolutely fantastic. Custom designers don’t come cheap, however, but it is important to remember…you get what you pay for. You can do some Google searching for Custom WordPress Templates or Custom WordPress Template Designer, and find some interesting results.
This is, of course, just a start to get you headed in the right direction. For more info on blogging, WordPress, and templates, check out Bloggy’s own BloggingPro. David is a real expert when it comes to WordPress, and a heck of a nice guy ta boot!
