One of the worst parts of dieting is going face to face with the delicious food items that you yearn the most. We all have that favorite food that makes our mouth water in an instant. And most of the time, even a single serving is enough to get you over your calorie limit for the day. It’s just a crime for you as a dieter not to eat it and it’s such a travesty of justice for you as a person. In any case, if you’re in the dangerous fringe of a food binge, keep in mind the following points to help you stave it off.
Make a list. Pinpoint all the food items that you sinfully crave. Examine each and every one and rank them. For a good fit of psyching up yourself, write down their caloric values. Knowing how much cals these babies pack will help you put some perspective on how dangerous binging is.
Have them. Since as a dieter you should also be planning your meals (use a food diary), consider to include these food items sporadically throughout your plan. Make sure you have them in regular intervals. Knowing their caloric value can help you adjust your other meals for the day so that you wont go grossly over the limit. Having these foods once in a while will help you avoid giving in to temptation. Remember, portion control!
Give in. If in any given moment, you feel a sudden crave that you feel will drive you crazy. Indulge in the food craving. Satisfy your craving but as much as possible don’t go overboard. Just be sure to eat a controlled portion. There’s no point in feeling all too depressed for depriving yourself when dieting. And, reassuring yourself that you’ve eaten only a decent portion will help you prevent the guilty thoughts about packing in too much calories for the day.
Forgive yourself. Giving in to your cravings is forgivable once in a while. Just don’t make this an excuse to perpetually indulge. Remember, planning is still the best way to go as this allows you to eat your favorite food without ruining your diet. But if you do indulge, make sure that you’re back on track with your next meal.
