Sculpey

Some people really have a thing against a glass/cup without a coaster under them. Those liquid stain circles are enough to drive them crazy. Well admit it, your beer can often leaves sticky stuff on your mom’s table (if you’re a bum still plaguing your folks). Instead of having to clean and scrub off dirt and beverage remnants off the table, why not use cute coasters you can use every time you enjoy a drink? And to give you some nice summer project, here’s how you can creatively make one, using Sculpey!

What you need:

  • Four canvas coasters
  • Transluscent Liquid Sculpey® (polyform)
  • Alcohol-based ink of desired color

What to do:

  • Spread a thin layer of Sculpey® onto each coaster surface. Use a palette knife to make thin and even layers.
  • Think of your coaster design. Our example: a flower. Squeeze one tablespoon of Sculpey® into small disposable bowl and mix with ink of chosen color. Do this for each color of your desired design.
  • Decorate canvas coasters with your colors.
  • When design is achieved, preheat oven to 275°. Place coasters on a metal pan and bake for about 20 minutes. Remove and let it cool.
