Okay, a lot of feasting can still be made from the leftovers. Sure, reheating is a good option but let’s face it, only a few meals can be as good (or even better) the longer they are kept. So the key here is to make them new. Here are several ideas on how to deal with the leftovers and enjoy great meals.
Before experimenting on some outrageous meals from leftovers, be reminded to not go as far as making slop out of things (like mixing two to three dishes into one) but effective ways like whipping up a new sauce for that leftover roast beef to be served with steaming rice would be good.
Cook leftovers enough to heat them through. Remember that applying too much heat will make the ingredients lose their flavors. If the dish is has become mushy due to refrigeration and heating, you can mix some crunchier additions (like fresh veggies) to provide texture.
Beef (depending on how it is cooked) especially roasts and steaks can easily be used in soups and sandwiches. Beef can also be easily sliced thinly into strips and mixed with pasta sauce.
Pork (especially ham and bacon) are easily make excellent sandwich additions. So does roast chicken and turkey leftovers. Another alternative for these leftovers would be to mix them up in an omelet. Combined with cheese and peppers, they make excellent breakfast omelets.
Diced chicken is always great for soups, salad and a quick chicken a la king.
Lamb can be used to make shepherd’s pie (chopped lamb in gravy topped with mashed potatoes) and curry.
