Septic Tank

If your home relies on a septic tank for their property’s sanitation, then you might want to look into septic tank activators. For septic tanks to treat the waste that goes in to it, it relies heavily on the chemical process that ’s made possible by anaerobic bacteria. Yes, we rely on those little buggers to help process whatever goes down when you flush. That’s why you have to make sure that they get go about their thing.

There’s a lot of commercial septic tank activators out there and the ones recommended are those that promote bacterial activity. These also prevent the mucky build up of scum since bacterial activity deals with those. Keeping an active level of bacterial activity in your tank helps to keep it working efficiently.

The danger with commercial activators may contain chemicals that may just kill the bacteria so here’s a recipe for a home-made septic tank activator:

What you need:

  • 2 packs of active dry yeast
  • 1 lb of brown sugar
  • 4 cups of water

What to do:

  • Mix everything in a container
  • Let the mixture rest somewhere warm for around 15 minutes
  • By this time, the yeast would have bloomed and what you’ll have is a foamy mix
  • Flush it down the toilet bowl

All this does is to encourage bacteria to. And since everything in here can be found in human diet, rest assured, you’re not killing any of them critters.
