The party conversation can go on and on as long as there is plenty of cold drinks. Sure you might have a full punch bowl but nothing beats rounds of cool drinks to keep lips wet and the chatter going. Here are some tips on how to make ice cubes last longer for parties.
Clear ice cubes. Clear ice cubes last longer due to the absence of air bubbles in them. To make them, you can boil the water and cool. Pour on cube mold trays then stick the trays into the freezer for cooling. To keep ice cubes separate, store them dry and chilled inside your freezer.
Know the volume. For average cocktail parties, you should keep at least 2/3 of a pound of ice per guest. This is just for refills. Count the ice for mixers separately.
Separate your containers. Separate the drinks stations like make one side of the table a station for soda and fizz drinks and the other the one for beer. If you have more beer drinkers, then the cubes stored in the beer station would probably be consumed a lot faster. They’d also melt faster due to prolonged exposure to air. By separating the stations, you can always use the ice cubes in the less visited station as a reserve supply.
Get blocks. If you need to chill drinks, try considering buying ice blocks. A mix of blocks and cubes would extend the supply of the cubes.
