Story has it that Long Island Ice Tea was invented during the Prohibition era. Supposed to take the appearance of ice tea, hence drinking without getting caught. Well, we have to give it to them, it does look like ice tea. Things booze people to get their daily dose of drink. In any case, it’s one great mix drink.
What you need:
(For two servings)
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1 1/2 oz light rum
- 1 1/2 oz tequila
- 2 oz lemon juice
- cola (I prefer Coke over Pepsi for this one, but I guess it’s a matter of preference.)
What to do:
- Combine all the ingredients (except the cola) and mix well.
- Serve over ice in tall or highball glasses.
- Add a splash of cola for color. I prefer Coke over Pepsi for this one. But I guess that’s because I’m a Coke man.
- Garnish with a slice lemon and a sprig of mint.

Error in Mixture

2There is an error in the mixture. Add an equal part of Triplesec and it will taste very close to Arizona lemon ice tea. A lot of states do not allow bars to make drinks with 5 types of alcohol. That is why there seems to be so many variations in how it is made with 4 types of alcohol. Also, go light on the sour mix. The drink should look like brown tea not yellow lemonade.
