Picked this from an old recipe card at home. At first I thought “Tuna-Cheddar Chowder” sounded yucky but when I tried it out, it’s quite yummy. Plus, most of the ingredients, you probably have stored in your cupboard.
I believe these chowder recipe’s Southern US style. Try it. Read on for the recipe.
What you need:
- 1 onion chopped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup AP flour
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups milk
- 1 6.5 ounce can tuna (drained and flaked)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 2 carrots, shredded
- 1/2 tsp clery seed
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp salt
What to do:
- Saute the carrots and onion in the butter in a large saucepan.
- As the onions get transparent, mix in the flour.
- Add the chicken broth and milk.
- Heat to a simmer and stir constantly until thick.
- Add the tuna, celery seed, Worcestershire, and salt.
- Finally add the cheese and stir until the cheddar melts.
This recipe makes for 4 servings.
