Tuna Can

Picked this from an old recipe card at home. At first I thought “Tuna-Cheddar Chowder” sounded yucky but when I tried it out, it’s quite yummy. Plus, most of the ingredients, you probably have stored in your cupboard.

I believe these chowder recipe’s Southern US style. Try it. Read on for the recipe.

What you need:

  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup AP flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 6.5 ounce can tuna (drained and flaked)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 2 carrots, shredded
  • 1/2 tsp clery seed
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp salt

What to do:

  • Saute the carrots and onion in the butter in a large saucepan.
  • As the onions get transparent, mix in the flour.
  • Add the chicken broth and milk.
  • Heat to a simmer and stir constantly until thick.
  • Add the tuna, celery seed, Worcestershire, and salt.
  • Finally add the cheese and stir until the cheddar melts.

This recipe makes for 4 servings.
