Crisis

Personal or otherwise, crises should be dealt with urgency, efficiency and with a clear head. It can be something really minor that makes us anxious or something really major that it causes panic. Either way, large or small, there’s a way out of a crisis. Here are some tips on overcoming a crisis.

  • Act swiftly as you can that is, if you’ve already have all the facts straightened out. Operating on unfounded assumptions is the mother of all mess-ups.
  • Be proactive. (Oh dear, here’s that word again). Don’t waste any efforts in putting the blame on someone. That wouldn’t help at all. Remember, overcoming a crisis is a problem-solving task.
  • Promote optimism. Optimism helps people to be calm. A calm person thinks with a clear head. Focus on the solution.
  • Don’t deny the urgency or gravity of the matter. Time is always of essence. And problems don’t usually go away by themselves.
  • If everything still seems to be futile and you must accept that nothing can be done, just assure yourself that there are lessons learned and do your best to avoid similar crises from happening.
