Summer sure is fun. It just calls for the outdoors. However, with the different activities you can do, injuries can be quite common. So whether you head outdoors or someplace else, be sure to pack a first-aid kit and bring it with you (or place in the car) in case of any emergencies. Prepared kits are available but just in case you want your own customized med kit, here’s a guide in packing one for you.
What to include
- First aid manual
- Large triangular bandages
- Individually-packed gauze pads
- Rolls of 2″ and 4″ gauze bandages
- Butterfly bandages
- Roll of 1″ micropore tape
- Cotton balls
- Cotton swabs
- Sterile scissors
- Sterile tweezers
- Eyedropper
- Thermometer
- A bar of plain (unscented) soap
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Anti-bacterial cream
- Petroleum jelly
- Calamine lotion
- Aspirin
- Ibuprofen
- Antihistamine
- Antacid
- A small bottle of distilled water
What to do
- Be sure that the case is a sturdy one. Place bottles where they’re unlikely to break. Better yet, line them with the packets of gauze for cushioning.
- Read the first aid manual!
- Since you may not be using them most of the time, always check for items that may have expired. Discard these. Replenish your stock of expired or used items.
