Gum

One of the more horrid things that can get stuck to your clothes (aside from coffee, paint and grease…) is gum. It’s sticks and stays there. Unless you do something real quick about it.

Gum removal is quite easy. And the secret lies inside your refrigerator. So here’s what to do when you’ve been unfortunate enough to have gum stuck on your favorite piece of clothing.

  • Pull off as much gum as you can using your fingers.
  • Take a piece of ice cube and rub it on the gum. Freezing the gum lessens its sticking power.
  • For water sensitive fabrics, you might want to place the garment inside a plastic bag and place it in your freezer.
  • For tougher fabrics (such as denim), you can use a paring knife to scrape it off.
  • For more delicate fabrics, be gentle on it. Try to pull off as much as you can with your fingers, then use an old toothbrush to brush it off.
  • If little pieces still stick, a good wash would take them right off.
  • Some might try using oils and other lube, but the thing is, it might just ruin the fabric.
