While a large percentage of society consists of workaholics, there are still many of us who long to be free of the hassles of everyday work and be able to live at a more carefree pace. You can fast-forward your way to an early and comfortable retirement if you really focus on it and here’s how.
Avoid debts. Debt is a big pitfall for those who want to get rich. If you’re not careful, your debts might be worth more than what you are actually earning. The idea is to increase your net worth, not decrease it.
Be conscious of what you spend your money on. Keep a conscious effort to regularly track where your money goes. Decide which expenses are luxuries and necessities. Make a budget plan and try to keep to it. Also, account for your actual expenses. Even the smallest miscellaneous things you spend on can amount to a large percentage of your savings in the long run.
Be aware of the time. It’s never too late to start saving; but more importantly, it’s never too early. If you make your budget and savings plan time-bound, with set goals at definite periods, you will be able to assess how you’re doing with your savings.
Be more interested in your goal than what other people think. If you’re really serious about saving, then expect to sacrifice more luxuries than the next person. You might have to cut back on night-outs, expensive clothes and other luxuries. Whenever you find yourself thinking how you can never keep up with your cool colleague’s lifestyle, console yourself by thinking of the benefits that you will be reaping in the future.
