Dogs

90% of cats and dogs suffer from some form of dental disease when they reach 6 (human) years of age. Pets have natural defense mechanisms but plaque and tartar can still build up and cause your pet some problems down the line. Bacteria and other infections can even lead to heart disease.

Here are some symptoms of periodontal disease which are valid reasons for you to visit your vet:

  • Persistent bad breath
  • Brown spots on teeth
  • Bleeding or inflamed gums
  • Loose or infected teeth
  • Accumulated plaque

However, you can always prevent such symptoms from happening by cleaning your pet’s teeth. When in doubt, consult with your vet. For your pet’s sake and for yours too.
