A lot of hair care products out there. Since today’s marketeers are promoting that all-natural formulations, we find bottles of shampoo and conditioner with all sorts of labels that we would only find in processed food stuff over a decade ago. So if you’re wondering what eggs or silk would do to your hair, read on and find out.
Aloe - Aloe has been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. It has antiseptic properties that’s used for treating cuts even some skin disease like eczema. As for the hair, some researches show that it doesn’t do much on dead hair cells. In any case, it’s still good for your scalp.
Balsam - Usually found in hair conditioners, balsam acts as a hair stiffener. It adds volume and body to your hair.
Coconut, avocado, wheat-germ (Oils) - These natural oils seal in moisture since they guard against evaporation. Since oils lubricate, they also give an added shine to hair.
Eggs - Ever heard of mayonnaise as hair conditioner? It’s because eggs has lots of protein. See below for what proteins can do.
Herbs - It usually depends on the herbs. But a lot of these contribute to the scent and aroma. These scents can actually be therapeutic. See this article on spice baths to see what certain herbs can do.
Lemon - Specifically citric acid is a natural cleaner. It removes grimy oils that cling to the hair. In turn, it makes the hair softer.
Moisturizers - To be used by those with dry and damaged hair. Lactic acid and lecithin helps the hair to hold more moisture.
Proteins - Keratin and amino acids help fill in the damage in the hair cuticle.
Silk - Silk shampoo actually contains very small fibers. They act as reflecting particles to make the hair look shiny.
Vitamins - Vitamin B5 (panthenol) is probably the real vitamin that helps restructure hair. Vitamins like A and E aren’t really absorbs by your hair. Instead, these are meant to revitalize your scalp.
