The flea market is full of treasures – an antique box, a bronze platter, an interesting painting or an exquisite vase. Shopping is just different inside a flea market. You see things you don’t normally see in a mall and all with very agreeable price tags. Let’s take a look-see at some of the things when we’re having fun at the flea market.
Devote an entire day. The fun starts when you begin having great finds. Since not all flea markets have fascinating objects, you have got to spend hours looking for them. It’s more fun when you go with a friend who’s also looking for great bargains. You can drive around city, make your stops and sweep every flea market you find along a way.
Prepare your budget. Even though flea market is about cheap stuff, when your finds start piling up you’re still going to pay a lot. It is still wise to determine a budget so as not to go overboard with your spending. Bringing a calculator so you can keep track of your spending will also help you follow your flea market budget.
Be crafty. Some of the things you found may need restoring like that silver candle holder for instance, or that Victorian tapestry. You will need some metal polish and maybe your sewing kit.
Haggle. Price tags don’t really exist in flea markets. Some sellers markup their prices so that they’d have a lot of profit from the “junk” that they’re selling. So make your own price cuts and bargain for a lower price. Here’s a post on haggling.
Don’t mind if after your restorative efforts, the objects still look old. Sometimes that’s the point. Antique is the word.
