I’m a Firefox user since it came out and honestly, Internet Explorer has just served as a backup browser for those sites that don’t function with Friefox. Anyway, IE 7 is a real looker compared to IE 6, especially when it finally came out with its tabbed browsing feature.
Here are keyboard shortcuts for tabs to make browsing with IE a lot quicker:
- Ctrl + left-click
Opens links in a new tab in the background - Ctrl + Shift + left-click
Opens links in a new tab in the foreground - Ctrl + T
Opens a new tab in the foreground - Ctrl + Tab or Ctrl + Shift + Tab
Switches between tabs - Ctrl + W
Closes current tab or the current window if there are no other tabs - Alt + Enter
Opens a new tab in the foreground from the Address bar - Ctrl + x (where x is a number between 1 and 8 )
Switches to a specific tab number - Ctrl + 9
Switches to the last tab - Ctrl + Alt + F4
Closes other tabs
You can also tweak the way tabs behave by accessing Tools -> Internet Options -> Under “Tabs,” click the “Settings” button.
