Seems like iPod junkies should take heed of experts’ advice to get indoors as soon as lightning and thunder is heard.
CNN reports of hit-by-lightning-while-using-their-iPods cases. The latest, a Canadian jogger who suffered burns, ruptured eardrums, and a broken jaw when he was hit by lightning and electricity traveled through the wires.
Several other cases have also been reported as in the case of a Colorado teen that got nasty burns and busted eardrums when hit by lightning while mowing the lawn, listening to his iPod.
Apple does include a warning not to use iPods when it’s raining. But lightning can strike even from a distance of a storm. So expert advice says “When thunder roars, go indoors.” Better be safe, than burned, I guess.
