Have you ever tried salvaging a broken vase by using but ended up frustrated because the glue won’t stick? I have and I found out through a little research that this dilemma results from one thing – wrong glue. So the key to bonding perfection is to know the right glue for the job.
And to share a little adhesive knowledge:
Spray Adhesive
Scotch Spra-Ment or 3M will do the trick if you’re sticking fabrics together for some crafts project.
Rubber Cement
This one is best for both fabrics and paper. Borden, Best Test, Hunt, and Elmer’s come to mind. Just don’t inhale too much of the fumes (especially intentionally), and you’ll be just fine.
Cyanoacrylate
Say what? That’s super glue for you. I’m sure you won’t trip your tongue when you ask your friendly hardware guy for one. And yeah, they’re also good with plastic, china, costume jewelry, glass, ceramic, and plastic toys and practically all non-porous materials that needs a strong hold.
Ethylene Chloride Solvent
Crashed your motorcycle helmet visor? Accidentally hit grandma’s terrarium in the living room? No fear. Ethy… er. Weld-on #4 is your safe bet.
Epoxy
Good old epoxy works best with metal. Just remember that this stuff comes in two tubes and you must need to knead the materials together for it to work.
