Microsoft Excel Security Patch Updates (January 2007)

Microsoft apparently made a minor booboo in their earlier release of a security update for Microsoft Excel. Some users of Excel with Asian language support were not able to open documents after the update was installed.

Here’s what Bob McMillan wrote:

Excel 2000 users will find that they cannot open some Excel documents after they install the MS07-002 security update, if they have also configured Excel’s “executable mode” to Korean Japanese, or Korean, Microsoft said in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article posted Thursday.

Here’s the link to the Microsoft Security Bulletin.

Patching up the Excel vulnerability is said to be quite important. So if you’re using Excel, better look into this matter.
