I personally dread the lack of parking spaces in high traffic areas. You spend hours upon hours circling the block hoping to find a parking space only to find out your odometer raking up miles. Oh yeah, and those unscrupulous drivers who can’t seem to park their cars right – taking up a bit of the next space.
Now here’s another one for the Web Two Point Oh. We’ve got “Parking for the Mobile Generation.” SpotScout is a start-up company that’s into the parking space business with an online twist. It’s a service that allows drivers to reserve private spaces in garages and swap public parking spots in real time through their mobile phone. Vacant spaces are up for grabs for the highest bidder.
Drivers can post their planned departure times making the space up for bidding. Garages and owners of driveway spaces with unused spaces can offer reservations by posting information about times when spaces will be free.
Now this spin, I find preying on our primordial desire for a free parking space. Haven’t you noticed it feels so good to get that free space when you’ve got a score of others looking for that one too? Haha.
