The great thing about being a small business is that you can easily pull-off community-based projects that can surely boost your image and stock in your locality. Local businesses have been doing it for many years, and there’s no reason why your small business can’t.

A good way to start doing some community-based PR/advertising/marketing (See? All three rolled in one!) activities is to find an organization that can benefit from a sponsorship. You locale government will definitely be a willing partner to some of your efforts. A great way to get permanent publicity on public property is to sponsor a grafitti mural painting sessions. Sponsor the paint and have artists from the local school “decorate” a public wall and have your company name be immortalized by having a spot there for your name.

Another great way to do this is to tap charities. You can sponsor a walkathon or a 5k run for the benefit of the locale charity. You can easily throw in some collaterals into the mix. You can line the corners with banners bearing your name. Or even on the paper cups. The whole route will be littered with your company’s name.

This not only gives you a cheap and easy publicity, but it also shows your good faith to the community and the people – your customers.
