Group ChatMight take a while before it shows up for all users but looking at the upper-right hand portion of my GMail screen is one of those plugs in red bold letters. This time, it’s “New! Group chat“. Clicking on the link revealed that Google just packed the darned chat with more goodies.

The group chat feature works pretty much like the Yahoo! Messenger’s conference where you get to invite multiple users into a single chat group. It is accessible via the Options drop down located below the chat window that you get when selecting a user to chat with.

Another feature added to chat is visual emoticons. While you can still use the classic text-style emoticons, Google added more graphic emoticons, again similar to what you get with Yahoo! Messenger although they’re not quite that many and animated. You also get to choose between round and squarish ones.

Now only if there was an Invisible option.
