It’s been a week of launches from our friends from Google. Let’s see what they’ve been doing for the past few days - Street View for Google Maps, Google Gears, and with Gears, they also launched the Google Mashup Editor.

By the sound of it, it is going to be Google’s match for Yahoo! Pipes. It “provides simple tools and features that allow you to create mashups in minutes.” Among its features are:

• Editor
• Feed Browser
• Sandbox

But trying it out, it’s interface isn’t anything like Pipes’ with a very visual GUI. GME requires some knowledge of AJAX since you’ll be staring at a text editor. Good thing it’s a pretty souped upped editor with syntax highlighting and autocomplete. The feed browser features integrated browsing. The sandbox lets you try out whatever you’ve done.

GME, like Pipes’ lets you share your mashup for everyone to enjoy.
