Google Spreadsheet Sort

Sorting, which is probably one of the handiest functions in your stand-alone spreadsheet program, is now available in Google Spreadsheets. A sortbar is now available just below your column that would let you sort data in ascending or descending. You can even drag the sortbar to freeze rows. How’s that for added functionality?

Aside from the sorter, Google Spreadsheet now placed a Sum value on the status bar that shows the sum of values in selected cells. This saves you the time for computing if all you need is to do some quick math.

Well, I think the continuous improvements of Google Docs and Spreadsheets is really challenging the position of paid office productivity suits. More and more, I’m shifting to using Google Docs and Spreadsheets over Microsoft Office since collaboration is a lot easier using an online suite rather than rely on sending and receiving attachments. Besides, if that’s going to be your thing, there’s a lot of freeware productivity suites available.
