Take that, spyware bastards!
The US House of Representative passed an antispyware bill Tuesday on a voice vote. In a bill sponsored by Zoe Lofgren, a Democrat from California, and Bob Goodlatte, a Republican from Virginia, unauthorized access to a computer to commit computer scam will now be illegal. For such an action, you may get five years of jail time. Defrauding or damaging a computer can get you two years.
The Department of Jusitice will also receive an added budget to wage war against phishers, pharmers and hackers.
Now let’s see what the Senate will have to say.
