Yes, dishwashers can only go as far as, well, dishes that can’t go in them. So for your fine crystals and what have you, face it, your hands are getting wet. But don’t worry. Here are some tips on washing dishes by hand.
- Clean all the remaining food bits off plates before scrubbing them in sudsy water.
- Use a dish brush to clean glasses down to the bottom.
- If you’re washing fine crystal, line the sink with washcloths.
- Washing with hot water makes dishes dry faster.
- Throw in your gunky dishes and cookware in a hot and soapy water after cooking. This would loosen much gunk so you won’t have to break your back scrubbing.
- Dried eggs and milk can stick to cookware and dishes. Use cold water on these dishes. Hot water can just cook them on the dishes.
- Also, if you break a glass, drain the water out first. Use a paper towel to pick up the pieces.
- To prevent cuts, don’t throw in a knife in a filled and sudsy sink. Chances are you’ll cut yourself groping for it.
- Use 1 cup vinegar + bucket of water as a final rinse.
