There’s a good lot of freeware for hobbyists and special interest enthusiasts. For sky and star watchers out there, you might have seen/heard/used some of these 3D space simulators.
For this post, I’m featuring Celestia. It’s a space simulator that lets you view beyond our own solar system, even beyond our galaxy across over 100,000 stars. It features a “seamless” navigation and exponential zoom so that browsing stars, moons, planets, and even spacecraft would be a smooth voyage.
Celestia also features downloadable add-ons if you want to expand your the gallery. Plus it’s got versions for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X! Oh yeah, I mention freeware, right?
Find the download details for Celestia here. Better check the documentations first for requirements.
