True. A lot of us have probably asked (as kids or even as grown ups) that proverbial question. Not that you can actually dig straight down and go through molten rock and through the super dense core of the earth. But hey, curiosity can get the best of you at times.
So how do you answer that? Simple, just get out a globe, some geologic data, and start plotting. Or, go Web 2.0 and visit this site - If you dig… The tool uses Google Maps to plot where you’d end up on the other side if you dig at any point. I think it even takes into account the tilt or something.
Unfortunately for North America, if you dig from there, you’ll just hit the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Piff. So much for digging straight down, huh? In any case, you don’t have to dig to know anymore.
