For those of you non-geeks, resistors are electronic components that resist (duh! :p) electronic current. I remember back in the days of shop class, we had a hard time learning what values of those color bands painted around the resistor mean.
Here’s a pretty forward web application for electronics hobbyists – Resistor Color Bands. Does just what it says:
Find the resistor values given the color codes, or vice versa.
Just select the color of each band from the drop-down menus and the film type. The ohm value displays right away. Or you can go vice versa, enter a resistance value and get the colors. It even prompts you if you have entered an invalid value with suggestions on the nearest valid value.
